Hartland Quay

The Barefoot Walk

The Barefoot Walk

Hartland Quay is one of the most spectacular coastal location in the UK.  The spectacular cliffs at Hartland Quay with their incredibly contorted rock layers are always worth a visit and at low tide there is plenty of sand, rock pools and rocks to scramble over.  In wild weather it is the perfect place to appreciate the power of the sea and wind as the waves crash against the cliffs and shore. With access to the South West Coast Path both North and South from the Quay, it makes an ideal start/finish point for a wide variety of walks.

Lundy Island

Hartland Peninsular

Lundy, seen from Berry Barn, lies off the coast of North Devon, where the Atlantic ocean meets the Bristol Channel with nothing between it and America, a granite outcrop, three miles long and half a mile wide. In the hubbub of the modern world, it is a place of peace. https://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/lundyisland/

Hiking the South West Coastal Path

Hartland Peninsular

Part of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this stretch of coastline is one of the most dramatic in the British Isles. Breathtaking coastal scenery and cliff top walks are all to be found.https://www.exploredevon.info/activities/places/landscape/hartland-point-hartland-quay/

Hiking the South West Coastal Path

The South West Coast Path is perhaps the UK’s ultimate challenge for the long-distance hiker - a 630-mile adventure around the coastline of England’s south west peninsula. North Devon has 90 miles of the path.  Most of this section faces out over the Bristol Channel, offering lofty coastal vistas from places like Combe Martin, Ilfracombe, Lee Bay and Morthoe.  This stretch of hikes are located in the heart of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and part of the North Devon UNESCO designated Biosphere reserve.
